Established
in 1927, the Burkburnett Volunteer Fire Department serves
a population of 10,200 within the city limits of Burkburnett,
Texas. The department also covers the areas outside
the city limits, including all areas within the Red
River Valley to the north, Bacon Switch Road to the
south, Kaspar Road to the west, and Musgrave Road to
the east.
The
volunteer department provides fire protection, fire
prevention and education, disaster planning and preparedness,
resuce, and emergency medical services. Maximum department
size is 35 members. The fire department carries five
pieces of apparatus, two rescue units, one support vehicle,
and a Chief's car.
Requirements:
1. 21 years of age or older. No maximum age.
2. Reside within the Burkburnett city limits.
3. No criminal history.
4. Attend 25% of toned calls.
5. Attend 40% of drills (80% during 6 month probation)
6. No experience is necessary.
Process:
1. Application submission.
2. Criminal history check.
3. Traffic history check.
4. Membership Committee interview.
5. Introduction to the department and vote on applicant.
There
is a six-month probationary period. At the end of this
time, the applicant will receive a second department
vote to release the individual from probation.
