The BPD Training Staff is dedicated to providing comprehensive in-service training for the Burkburnett Police Department. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that all licensed officers complete the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) mandated 40 hours of training every two years. This includes essential courses required for officers' progression to Intermediate, Advanced, and Master certifications.

The team of trainers includes two Certified Firearms Instructors who oversee all weapons qualifications and conduct less-lethal update training for the department's officers. Additionally, the Training Unit collaborates with the NORTEX Commission, Wichita Falls Police Department, Wichita County Sheriff's Office, and Vernon College to offer specialized training programs not only for BPD officers but also for officers from neighboring agencies.
