Commissioner C. Edward English, Sr. is a native of Port Gibson, Mississippi and joined the Burkburnett community in July 2009, after relocating from El Paso, Texas. He presently serves as Pastor of Providence Baptist Church, Burkburnett.  Since his arrival, he has been a very active and vocal member in our community. English served as the Chairman of the Charter Review Committee in 2013 and continued to make himself available to the needs of the community ever since.  He received his childhood education in Port Gibson, Mississippi; career training at Ft. Gordon, Ga, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas and upper-level education from El Paso Community College, Park University and Webster University in Parkville, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri, respectively. 

Commissioner English is a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He initially served as a Telecommunications Specialist; culminating as a Senior Materials Manager. He directed all logistics area supports services for Army Medical Centers, as a soldier and subsequently as a civilian. Commissioner English also served as liaison between business and city services in the downtown corridors of the city of El Paso, Texas.

He is known to be relentless in achieving results. He attributes his profound passion to achieve excellence throughout his illustrious careers which spanned for nearly five decades, to his Love for and faith in God.  He remains fueled with the tenacity and drive to eliminate failure as an option. English leads from the front and carefully surveils that no one is left behind. He is a Federal and State retiree. In his free time, he is active in supporting numerous local benevolent agencies, as well as holding membership in various social fraternities and societies. 

Rev. English is married to Elizabeth A. English (formerly Alexander), of Chickasha, Oklahoma; three adult sons; Carl Jr., Robert, and Dominique English; three grandsons; and six granddaughters. One of his closest confidants is their Blue Pitbull terrier (Blue). A Pittsburgh Steeler fan 4-life!

Commissioner English’s mantra is, “A good education is excellent, but good common sense and fair play, is essential”.
