The Texas Public Information Act gives you the right to access government records, and the staff member may not ask why you want them. Please find below a link to the Public Information Request Form. You may use the PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUEST FORM (click HERE or on the icon below), but your are in no way required to use it - the only requirement is that the request is in writing. All government information is presumed to be available to the public, with certain exceptions. Governmental bodies shall release requested information as promptly as possible, unless the information is exempt from disclosure under the Public Information Act. The City of Burkburnett uses the rates established by the Office of the Attorney General to determine charges for copies of public records.

At the discretion of the staff member responding to a request, fees may be waived when there are a minimal number of responsive documents. If the cost of a request is expected to exceed $40, a staff member will send an estimate letter to the requester. The letter will include an itemized statement of any copying, personnel or mailing charges that will be incurred in fulfilling the request. Once the requester confirms that he or she agrees to the estimated costs, a staff member will begin compiling the records. If a requester does not respond within 10 days, the file will be closed.

$0.10 per page for paper copies
$1.00 per CD
$3.00 per DVD
Actual Costs for a USB or hard drive
$15.00 per hour for labor
Twenty percent of the labor as overhead
$28.50 per hour for programming

NOTICE REGARDING CRASH REPORTS
Crash Reports (Texas Peace Officer’s Crash Report CR-3) are maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation, and their release is governed by Section 550.065 of the Texas Transportation Code.
